Ask Jeeves Legacy— preserving the stories of Ask Jeeves.
Ask Jeeves was a major search website in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It had a simple user interface and used the Jeeves character, the “internet butler who was at your service.” It stood out from the other search engines of the era. Jeeves had become a cultural icon, and it made the internet approachable for millions of people.
The company was acquired by IAC in 2005. In 2006, the company and site were rebranded to Ask.com, and the Jeeves character “retired”. On May 1, 2026, IAC closed Ask.com. This project's purpose is to preserve some of the stories of Ask Jeeves.
